The NYS Visibility Director has put together four documents which you may find quite useful -

The Marketing Packet is available! Click here to view the materials available for your use.

In addition, there are many avenues for getting information about AAUW out to the public. Attached here are three poster templates, plus instructions for using them.

Also available are suggestions for news releases and other media tools:

Many times branches wish to honor a member or another citizen in the community who shares our mission and has contributed in some way. A sample Word template for a certificate is attached here. It is a "form" - just fill in the spaces and they will expand to fit your text. If you wish to modify the form, just click on "Tools", "Unprotect Document". The document will then be completely accessible.

Visibility awards were presented to four NYS branches at the 2010 NYS Convention:

Jamestown - We schedule feature articles in advance with the Post-Journal editor and use press releases. Posters are put in area libraries through the inter-library system in Chautauqua County, at Jamestown Community College, and on community bulletin boards. Email, in poster-flyer form, is used to notify AAUW members and other community organizations. We work with our local radio stations to record and air Public Service Announcements and give several live interviews to promote our regular programs, events, and public policy issues. TV Community Event Board, radio ads, DJ promotion, and live remotes are used at the What's New Fair.

Amsterdam-Gloversville-Johnstown - The branch voted to join our two local Chambers of Commerce. By attending Chamber functions, we increase our visibility and …  make many new contacts.

New York City - The branch partnered with media groups from underrepresented communities. . . We achieved success in recruiting new members who have taken on leadership roles within our branch.

St. Lawrence County – Uses a variety of media outlets, including the local regional Public Radio station as a partner; the local Public Access TV Station, and the traditional print and as well as on-line media outlets. We contribute OpEd pieces on a regular basis, giving local readers the AAUW take on public policy issues in the news. We regularly partner with other community groups in order to increase our visibility and access. Our branch website is updated weekly and is rich in AAUW content, particularly on the public policy end of things.
