AAUW NYSEquity for Women and Girls through advocacy, education and research

Mission-Based Programming

Peggy Kelland
NYS Program Vice President

Without programming, there would be no AAUW. But programming means different things to different people and different branches. The unifying factor is our mission. All branch programming should reflect the mission of AAUW:

AAUW (American Association of University Women) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.

This section is dedicated to helping branches develop deeper, richer, more effective and ultimately more satisfying programs. Click on the links to the left for help in specific areas. Look at the table below for programming suggestions. Click on the program name for information about the program. Also look at the recent program award winners - if something looks interesting to you, contact the branch!

You might be interested in the other successful program ideas that NYS branches have had - many of the applications for program awards are now available to give you other ideas.

NYS Board members, Association committee members or officers, and UN representatives (Leaders-on-Loan) are available to speak with your branch. Each branch is entitled to a visit from the NYS president plus one visit per year from another leader. Simply contact the person to confirm availability and make arrangements. The "Leader-on-Loan" will fill out the form for NYS reimbursement (Word-online, PDF-print).

In addition, the Association has published a "theme highlights" page which summarizes all the ways that AAUW programming IS the mission of the organization. Lots of action ideas.

And don't forget the new "Program in a Box", published by the Association. This evolving tool provides all the information for doing programs on a variety of topics.

PLUS - the AAUW Branch Program Resource Task Force has implemented a "Starter Kit" - the first publication is available now and the Starter Kit is on the national website.
