"AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research." With these bold words, the Association states its mission.

AAUW-NYS has several ongoing projects which aim to forward the national mission:

• "Women Making a Difference" - creation of a collaborative book of women who have made a difference in the history of New York.

• "My Sister's Keeper" - helping women around the world escape oppression, based on the book Half the Sky.

• "Walking in the Footsteps of" - honoring the history of the work of women in general and AAUW women in particular to secure the rights we now enjoy. This project is in its infancy - a list of reference materials is forming -
