AAUW would be pleased to welcome your campus as a college/university partner. Here are some items you may want to know;
C/U Partnership Program
To learn more about what AAUW has to offer, go to: http://aauw.org/About/join/value/colleges.cfm
In addition, we offer free electronic memberships to undergraduate students of member institutions.
Also, your students would be able to register at a discount for the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, about which you can learn more at: http://www.aauw.org/nccwsl/2009/
Advance information and consideration for grants and fellowships will also be available. Information on Campus Action Project grants which relate campus programs to current research is available now on http://www.aauw.org/education/cap/.
To find current New York C/U Partners, go to https://svc.aauw.org/join/value/cu_listing.cfm?state=NY
Unique Relations: Partnerships are most effective when they work with local branches. Each such relationship is unique. Many branches give scholarships or have loan funds for students attending local colleges, some give scholarships to the National College Conference for Women Student Leaders, some have career days pointing girls towards non-traditional careers, sister-to-sister conferences allowing girls to discuss the so-called “evaded” curriculum (sexual harassment, pressure to join in at-risk behavior), transitions conferences educating older students about re-entering academia, a few have mentoring programs encouraging at-risk students to graduate high school and attend college. Many of these programs bring potential students onto college campuses.
We encourage you to contact your local branch. The nearest branch can be found by going to the “find a branch” page on this website, or you can contact the NYS College/University Director. It will be my pleasure to assist you.
Becoming a Member/Partner: You can join online at http://aauw.org/About/join/index.cfm (go to the bottom of the page), or you can join by sending in (and emailing me a copy of) the invoice found here. The dues scale, based on student population, is listed both places.
Campus Liaison: Finally, should you choose to affiliate with AAUW, we would like you to appoint a campus representative to serve as liaison to the organization and to disseminate information about our resources and programs.
