Mary Lou Davis
NYS Secretary/By-laws

Important Reminder - the deadline has passed! Please contact bylaws chair Mimi Korb if you need assistance with this.
This is a follow-up to a memo sent by Caroline Pickens, former chair of the AAUW Bylaws Committee, dated July 22, 2009.

As stated in the July 22 memo, each branch and state is required to complete mandatory bylaws amendments by October 31.  Mandatory amendments are those required to implement changes made in the national organization at the convention in June. When the required amendments have been made, branch bylaws should be sent to your state bylaws chair, Mimi Korb.

Each branch should have a set of bylaws and update them every two years.

Send a copy of your updated bylaws to the NYS Secretary after they have been voted on and approved.

Download the most recent version of the Association's Model Branch Bylaws or fill them out online. You will have to log into the Member Center first.

The current NYS Bylaws are available for viewing.

The NYS Working Rules, Policy sheet addendum and Nominating Committee handbook are also available.

Branch Disbandment Form - If your branch is disbanding, you need to follow the correct procedure. Start by requesting a disbandment form from the AAUW Membership Department or the state MVP and complete it, indicating

  • The membership intentions of your members. Indicate on your membership list what each member intends to do, e.g., Jane Doe—transfer to Somewhere (NH) Branch; Sally Jones— transfer to individual member (member-at-large).
  • The disposition of branch funds and records.
  • The reasons for disbandment.

Association Report Forms - You can download copies of the Association's Report Forms to assist with branch paperwork.
