The Syracuse Branch of the New York State AAUW is one of the oldest branches in the state - we were founded in 1889! This year we are celebrating 121 years of our proud history and contributions to our community.
Our members come from a variety of educational and occupational backgrounds. We have six general membership meetings, from September through May. Our board members meet three times a year, including the summer, to conduct business.
Over the years we have received various awards from New York State AAUW. We contribute to the AAUW Educational Foundation and Legal Advocacy Fund both as a branch and as individuals. We sponsor a local scholarship for a woman who is in a graduate degree program in Onondaga County, as well as give an award to a Syracuse City School District Vocational Technical School graduate bound for college.
We are members of the Syracuse Federation of Women's Clubs.
The Clarion, our branch newsletter, is published 5 times a year. If you would like to receive a copy, please send an e-mail to Edwina Norton requesting our latest issue and include your name and mailing address.
