The Ontario branch was chartered in 1954 with 35 members, including June Herman and Isobel Skellett who remained active in the group. The branch served its mission well. They promoted the arts in a number of ways, including two art exhibits featuring women, along with arranging for performances by both the Rochester and Buffalo Philharmonic orchestras. They also assisted in reading projects, promoted voter registration and candidate information, did surveys for municipal planning and helped with Head Start.
Each year they handed out a $1000 college scholarship to a graduate of Finger Lakes Community College. Additionally, they were given a Recognition of Excellence award by the state organization for the program "She Did It,", designed to inspire local children to read about well-known women from New York and depict them through art.
