For more information, contact our Vice President for Membership, Mary Knox at 516-741-0592. We look forward to meeting you.

The Garden City Branch of the American Association of University Women, founded in 1938, welcomes all graduates with an associate (or equivalent) or higher degree to become members and those actively working toward the baccalaureate degree to become student affiliates of our organization. As all other branches, we support the mission of AAUW to work toward equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.

In our past, we point with pride to our efforts in establishing the Garden City Nursery School, the Garden City Library and the Garden City recycling program. Today, in addition to giving support to the Educational Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund, both AAUW national programs, we present awards to outstanding seniors at Garden City and Mineola High Schools and Adelphi and Hofstra Universities annually. One of our most popular outreaches has been to families headed by single mothers.

Several of us attended the recent District Six conference. Pictured are Jane
Cox, Nancy Ellis of the AAUW NYS Public Policy committee (who gave a
report on Behind the Pay Gap), Joan Stafford, Lisa Maatz (AAUW Public
Policy Director and the keynote speaker), Sylvia Ebert and Margaret
Delahunt (Co-Branch Presidents).
