AAUW
The Fairport Area Branch is a part of the American Association of University
Woman (AAUW). As a Member of AAUW, you all are a part of
an organization which has touched the lives of girls and women all over
this county, state, nation and world.
AAUW was founded in 1881 and is the oldest and largest national organization
devoted to the advancement of women. In 1919 AAUW helped
fund the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) to promote
equity worldwide. In 1946, AAUW was accorded permanent UN
observer status.
