The Elmira Branch of AAUW began as the College Club of Elmira in 1920. In 1917, the College Club became the Association of Collegiate Alumnae and then was reorganized as a branch of the American Association of University Women in 1921. In 2001 the Corning Branch joined with the Elmira Branch to become the Elmira-Corning Branch.

Sept. 15, 2008 place: TBA
Speaker: Paige Kinnaird. State of the children in Chemung County.

Oct.  26, 2008, Sunday, 1:30-3:00, Election Tea with Chemung County Council of Women and the League of Women Voters. At the Notre Dame High School   Collaborated effort of all three organizations to honor local women running for office. Congressman Randy Kuhl will be present at the forum. Eric Massa will also be present to speak to the group concerning his views.

Nov. 13, 2008, 7PM , Speaker: Lee Wells at the Community Arts Center on Lake Street.

Dec. 14, 2008, 1:30-3:30  Silver Bowl Tea at Jan Altilio’s home at 30 Liberty Way, Horseheads.. We will have scholarship recipients from area colleges as speakers         

 Jan. 6,  2009, Speaker: Jim Gray, “Local History-Fact or Fiction”, 5:45, Soup and Salad at Temple B’Nai Israel
       6:45 presentation.

 Feb. 10, 2009, Speaker: Vicky Mike, “Language Education in China” , 6:30 at the Steele Memorial Library.

 Mar.,10, 2009,  “ Women’s Health Issues—alternative ways of dealing with stress”, Big Flats Community Center,

                 Gathering at 5:30, dinner at 5:45.

             April 22, 2009, Speaker: Liz Walton,  “Women’s Financial  Issues in Today’s World”,  Corning Library, time TBA

             May 14, 2009, Annual End of Year Dinner, Election of Officers , Corning Country Club, gathering at 5:30 with Dinner at 6Pm
